The United Nations and Ranan Laurie invites political cartoonists of print publications, electronic media, and on-line media throughout the world to participate in the 2013 Political Cartoon Competition for the Year 2013. The UN in its desire to promote the highest standard of excellence in political cartoons has established this annual political cartoon award given in the international field, and named the award after political cartoonist Ranan Lurie, whose political cartoons epitomize the high standards that the UN would like to see.
Eligibility
The competition is open to all political cartoonists of print publications, electronic media, and on-line media across the world
Prize
- First prize, of $10,000.00 and a plaque
- Second prize, of $5,000.00 and a plaque
- Third prize, of $3,000.00 and a plaque
- Ten (10) honorable mentions, in the form of plaques
The prizes are to be announced on December 15, 2013, at the Annual Awards presentation in New York. Thirteen (13) prizes will be announced in the presence of the Secretary General of the United Nations, The Honorable Ban Ki-moon.
