As education is vital to the New Zealand Aid Programme’s mission of supporting sustainable development, they are offering different types of scholarships to citizens from selected developing countries to undertake vocational training or tertiary level study in their home country, in New Zealand, or in the Pacific region. These scholarships enhance the skills, training and knowledge of individuals, and build their capacity to contribute to the sustainable development of key areas in their home country.

Only candidates from eligible countries will be considered.
Type of Scholarships/Requirements
The New Zealand Aid Programme offers different types of scholarships. They include;
- New Zealand Pacific Scholarships: Scholarships for both under-graduate and post-graduate study in New Zealand, available to candidates from specific countries in the Pacific region.
- New Zealand Regional Development Scholarships: Scholarships for both under-graduate and post-graduate study at a Pacific based tertiary institution, available to candidates from specific countries in the Pacific region.
- New Zealand Development Scholarships: Scholarships for post-graduate study in New Zealand, available to candidates from specific Latin American and African countries, some Chinese provinces, and from Nepal, Timor-Leste and Mongolia.
- Short Term Training Awards: Awards for vocational and skills-based training in New Zealand for a period of less than one year, available to candidates from several countries in the Pacific region.
- New Zealand ASEAN Scholar Awards: The New Zealand-ASEAN Scholar Awards have been established through the New Zealand Aid Programme, the New Zealand Government’s international development programme.
- Commonwealth Scholarships Scholarships for post-graduate study in New Zealand, available to candidates to candidates from Commonwealth countries on a contestable basis.
